Coordinator of Employment Programs

REPORTS TO:  Executive Director

BASIC FUNCTIONS:  

To develop and implement employment strategies, programs and services that keep pace with the organization’s growth and to support its strategic plan.    

SCOPE:  This position is responsible for the day to day oversight of operations and the supervision of employment services with the goal of maintaining and enhancing the quality of individual consumer development.

QUALIFICATIONS:  BA preferred.  Minimum of four (4) years related experience required, with three (3) years in a supervisory capacity. Experience in Job coaching, vocational rehabilitation and assessment preferred. Proven understanding of the American’s with Disabilities Act and its’ relation to employment strongly preferred. Proven verbal and written communications skills, including Microsoft Office competency.  Valid Driver's License is required.

SCHEDULE:  This is a full time position with hours to be scheduled as programmatic needs dictate.  Some On-call responsibilities required.  Schedule will be maintained with the Executive Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES/OBJECTIVES:

  • Under the direction of the Executive Director, to develop and implement a full spectrum of employment services for Individuals served through GMPI;
  • Provide assessment, pre-employment experience, placement and job coaching support, as appropriate to assigned individuals;
  • Oversee the management and development of consumer programs including ISP development and implementation assuring compliance with established regulations and guidelines as related to employment;
  • Conduct outreach to area employers for the purpose of education and developing opportunities for employment of individuals with disabilities;
  • Act as a liaison to workforce development providers for the purposes of generating referrals and assisting with placement;
  • Coordinate day to day operations of assigned programs including reports, records maintenance and budgets;
  • As appropriate, participate in the selection, training and supervision of additional staff;
  • To represent assigned Programs at administrative meetings and participate in the evaluation of program services;
  •  Perform other duties as required or assigned.

  • To work in harmony and in support of the GMPI mission.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. on occasions.  Ability to perform work requiring bending, standing or walking.  Ability to drive.
